Now Hiring! Summer Internships at AfterCollege

We’re really excited to announce several openings at AfterCollege this summer. Here are the basic deets:

  • Internships will run from June 2 to August 10, 2013
  • These are full-time, paid positions which require presence in our downtown San Francisco office
  • No fetching coffee or making copies required—we’ll give you a real taste of what it’s like to work in your field

We’re looking to fill the following positions:

Software Development Intern

AfterCollege Software Engineers research and develop technologies to create a better way for students and new grads to explore their career options. We’re applying our programming skills to provide the best candidate-to-job targeting of any service reaching the college audience and comprehensive on line services for college students and new grads looking for jobs, career advice, and guidance.

Software Engineers at AfterCollege are developers who yearn to create and implement full product life cycles, not just write code for disjointed solutions. Candidates will strive for deep understandings of the products they work on, and be motivated to experiment and take chances.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to contribute to production-level code base in a substantive way, where your work will be used by a large audience, this will be a good internship for you.

Good candidates will be continuous learners; self-motivated; thoughtful risk-takers. You will maintain a bias toward action and creativity, be able to take an idea and run with it, and a willingness to ask questions and chase down the answers.

We are looking for a student who is interested in learning how to create usable products that drive specific user behavior. You’ll jump right in and work with us as we develop our products.

Throughout the eight weeks you will work with the product and engineering team providing design support for our iterative development efforts.

Editorial & Social Media Intern

Put your writing, editing, and social media skills to the test during this hands-on summer internship. The editorial and social media intern will contribute ideas and content to the AfterCollege Blog and AfterCollege’s other social media profiles.

Projects will include brainstorming and writing blog posts, conducting and transcribing interviews, researching the social media landscape, and managing social media accounts. You’ll have plenty of chances to expand your proficiency in tools like WordPress and HootSuite and social media platforms like Facebook, Pinterest, Reddit, and more.

Plus, you get to build your portfolio of published writing while helping other college students and recent grads figure out what they want to do with their lives and how to do it!

About working at AfterCollege

We’re a small company based in San Francisco’s Financial District. Our office environment is casual—no suit and tie required—with flexible office hours. We offer a fun, collaborative atmosphere and encourage sharing ideas across departments. Most Fridays we head en masse to a nearby park to picnic together during lunch, and we may enjoy the occasional board game or karaoke session (though participation is certainly not required).

We look forward to hearing from you!

Update: All of the positions have been filled as of May 31, 2013 and we are no longer accepting applications for the summer 2013 internships. We’ll post about new openings in future posts, so be sure to check back often!
